The Writings of Today are a Promise for Tomorrow” is the first exhibition of Chinese contemporary art in Saudi Arabia. Bringing together 31 artists of different generations and cultural backgrounds, the exhibition showcases a collection of over 50 artworks, offering diverse and nuanced perspectives on the profound transformation of our contemporary society.
The exhibition highlights the importance of writing as a cultural and societal practice in both Arabic and Chinese cultures, and explores universal themes like nostalgia and memory in the face of modernism, the “Garden” as a central element in Chinese culture, and aspects of commodification and capital as determining factors in contemporary Chinese society.
