Contemplation Effect’’ is a group exhibition dedicated to the myriad ways in which regional artists engage with the natural world as a dialog partner, a materiality, or point of departure. The title borrows from the physics term ‘observer effect’ whereby merely seeing a situation or phenomenon means you necessarily also change it. Contemplation Effect takes this idea a step further by considering delicate meanderings and musings–on the region’s extraordinary nature in this case–to have an equally profound and symbiotic effect. The concept also nods to the ways artists themselves have shaped Hafez Gallery as the institution embarks on its new expansion from Jeddah to Riyadh.
